VW Beetle Rust Treatment
Treatment of a VW Beetle chassis using RX 5 and RX 10
We used:
- VW chassis
- wire brush
- Paint stripper
- Brush
- Caprotech RX 5
- Caprotech RX 10
Step 1

After stripping or sandblasting of the under side of a beetle, leave the metal to “rust” for 24 hours. Together with RX 5 this little bit of rust is necessary to form a perfect bonding for further treatment with RX 5, 7 or 10. The first step of the Caprotech treatment will be to apply the first coat of RX 5. RX 5 penetrates very well and therefore reaches the most difficult places. RX 5 is clear. Apply RX 5 with a brush, roller or a spray gun.
Step 2

When the metal is touch dry, apply the second coat of RX 5. After the second coat of RX 5, leave to dry 24 hours at room temperature.
Step 3

Now we can start to apply RX 10. This time we have chosen to use the same colour all over. RX 10 is standard available in black, but on special order RX 10 is also available in every RAL colour.
For the first coat we used a brush and diluted RX 10 with 50% RX 5.
Step 4

When the metal is touch dry, we applied the second coat of RX 10 using a brush. This time we diluted RX 10 with 5% RX5
After drying this is the result!
