Wishbone Restoration
Treatment of a wishbone from a scrapyard using RX 5 and RX 10
We used:
- Rusty piece of metal (wishbone)
- Wire brush
- Paint stripper
- Paint Sprayer
- Brush
- Caprotech RX 5
- Caprotech RX 10
Step 1

This is how the wishbone came from the scrap yard
Step 2

Cleaning
Take of all dirt and loose rust.
Step 3

Remove Paint
Use a wire brush to clean the metal and you can use a paint stripper to take of the paint. Once the metal is cleaned, leave the metal for 24 hours to form a very fine layer of rust. We do not remove this!! This little bit of rust will form a perfect bonding with Caprotech RX 5
Step 4

First coat with RX 5
With a brush we treat the metal with a first coat of RX 5. This neutralises the rust and it has a strong penetrating capability so that it penetrates even the smallest cracks. Leave the metal to dry before applying the second coat.
Step 5

Second coat RX 5
The second coat guarantees a total penetration of the metal and the rust. The second coat is not necessary but it enhances the quality of the end result. RX 5 will form a perfect preparation for the next treatment with RX 10. Leave the metal to dry after applying the second coat.
Step 6

First coat RX 10
We can now treat the metal with one coat of RX 10. However it is also possible to treat the metal with an extra coat of RX 10. For this extra step we diluted RX 10 with 50% RX5, (in a diluted form it is easier to paint or spray). Leave the metal to dry after applying RX 10.
Step 7

Final Step
The final step will be a last coat of RX 10. For the final treatment you can dilute RX 10 with a maximum of 5% RX 5.
The treated wishbone now shines and looks like new!
